Deborah Williams Trounstine, M.A. is an experienced licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice treating adults, couples, adolescents and families.

She holds a master’s degree in psychology from Santa Clara University and is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).

She specializes in relationships, family systems and adolescent and young adult therapy. Common issues she treats include depression, anxiety, marital and relationship conflicts, young adult adjustment problems, adolescent at-risk behavior, chronic illness, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief and life-stage adjustment.

In the last 15 years, Deborah has worked as a private practice therapist, an educational and adolescent intervention consultant and as an international market development manager for a large Silicon Valley corporation.

 

Her broad range of practice in therapy, educational consulting and private enterprise combine to give Deborah extraordinary understanding and experience in helping clients grapple with the most troublesome personal issues.

For example, in addition to working with scores of individual clients and couples, Deborah has made onsite visits to assess and evaluate more than 70 local and out-of-state schools, programs and treatment centers specializing in mental and behavioral disorders, drug and alcohol treatment for children and young adults. Her practice in this area included guided interventions and referrals for treatment and education, ongoing therapy for families of patients in placement and follow-up treatment for both families and patients.

Deborah also offers entertaining and insightful couples communication and parenting classes for parents of pre-school, school age and teenage children.

She is available for public speaking engagements on a variety of topics including couples communication, at-risk teens, parenting, life-stage adjustment and self- esteem.

Deborah is passionate about helping her clients to change and grow, her marriage, her five children and step-children, her dogs, the beach and her hobby of family genealogy research.
